The home security system installation & sale has seen tremendous year-over-year growth and with a relatively new alliance (Connectivity Standards Alliance), Internet Of Things (IOT) devices are expected to see a global-wide adoption.
As a consumer-directed basket of products & services, the following systematic details had to be looked into:
- Licensed Sponsors & Suppliers (ISO9001, CE, CCC & etc.,)
- Product Adjacent (Breadth Strategy)

The goal of the research was to assess the following elements:
- Feasibility (P/S differentiation, expected revenue, initial capital requirements, payback period, etc.,)
- Technicality (zigbee vs z-wave vs IEEE 802.11, wireless vs wired, in-house built hub or outsourced, AES 128 vs 192, etc.,)
- Sourcing (partnering vs OEM/ODM)
The new market required new know-hows--barrier to entry is mainly technical (IT). This meant that significant investment was required to obtain an edge in the competitive landscape of IOT & home security systems.

This project required basic understanding of home security systems/IOT & their specifications (IEEE 802.11, zigbee protocol), NDA preparations, sector analysis, outsourcing, hybrid retail marketing, & forwarding management.
